Lawmakers cast symbolic vote for Haitians
The Florida Senate departed from its relative silence on immigration issues Monday, passing a memorial that encourages the federal government to ease travel restrictions for Haitians looking to come to the United States.
Florida Legislative leaders have stated they don't have time for E-Verify this session because the session is short and other higher priority issues like casinos and redistricting must be dealt with.
However, the Republican controlled Senate found the time to pass a non-binding resolution seeking an ease of restrictions on Haitian travel and immigration.
