Five Things Children Know That Liberals Have Forgotten:

1. Life's not fair.
2. You can't have everything you want.
3. Good people make the world work.
4. Liberals think EVERYONE should get a trophy.
5. Nobody owes you a living.

At the end of the day, you are responsible for taking care of yourself. You want a bike, get a paper route. Want to go to college at a private school for 6 years to get a degree in lesbian studies, then get a job, pay your bills, and pay off your own loans. Live below your means, save some money, get married before you have a kid, and if, God forbid, you do fall on hard times and take government assistance, have the common decency to feel a deep sense of shame for leeching off your betters instead of paying your own way.

How to survive a school shooting: [This article advocates drills but the real answer is to have some armed citizens on premises! Why do you think this kind of stuff only goes on in “gun free” zones like schools and post offices? Would you walk into a building to do this sort of thing if you knew you were going to get shot first? I doubt it! – JS]

Lying to Ourselves > America’s Welfare State: As David Brooks recently wrote in the New York Times, “the U.S. does not have a significantly smaller welfare state than the European nations. We’re just better at hiding it.” Whereas European countries “provide welfare provisions through direct government payments,” the U.S. does it “through the back door via tax breaks.”… For instance, “European governments offer public childcare. In the U.S., we have child tax credits.” European governments openly “subsidize favored industries.” We provide “special tax deductions and exemptions” for Washington’s favored industries… This back-door approach allows Americans to indulge in the fantasy of their self-reliance and rugged individualism without actually being self-reliant or rugged… When you include both direct and back-door social spending, our welfare state is bigger than Italy’s. It is “far above average” when compared to other industrialized nations.

Is the IRS Attempting to Intimidate Local Tea Parties? In January and February of this year, the Internal Revenue Service began sending out letters to various local Tea Parties across the country. Mailed from the same Cincinnati, Ohio IRS office, these letters have reached Tea Parties in Virginia, Hawaii, Ohio, and Texas (we are hearing of more daily). There are several common threads to these letters: all are requesting more information from these independent Tea Parties in regard to their nonprofit 501(c)(4) applications (for this type of nonprofit, donations are not deductible). While some of the requests are reasonable, much of them are strikingly onerous and, dare I say, Orwellian in nature. [This was originated by a letter from 6 Democrat politicians to the IRS. At the least, it stinks. But it would seem to be far worse and represent illegal intimidation attempts by the progressive establishment. – JS]
