Conservative on Target for 2/9/12

wl020912Faust Rules! Transformers > The Catholic church learns the true meaning of Obama's 'transformative' presidency. [If you accept progressive money, they will force you to pay the price. All our churches need to keep this in mind when they consider the outcome of accepting government money and tax exemptions! – JS]

The Economic Sabotage of the West : By combining an opposition to free enterprise with an opposition to industrialization, the left has adopted not one, but two platforms that doom the economic survival of their host societies. Even the Soviet Union and Communist China, systems which were the worst embodiment of leftist economic ideology did not throw out the industrial baby with the capitalist bathwater. Had they done so both countries would still be hopelessly feudal today, instead of crony capitalist mafia states with a lot of available consumer goods that create jobs and make life easier.

No Budget, No Problem > Now the White House tells Senate Democrats to flout the law: Asked yesterday about the lack of a Senate budget, spokesman Jay Carney said that "Well, I don't have an opinion to express on how the Senate does its business with regards to this issue." ABC's Jake Tapper pressed, incredulously, "The White House has no opinion about whether or not the Senate should pass a budget?" Mr. Carney reiterated that President Obama has "no opinion," only that he "looks forward to the Senate acting on the policy initiatives contained within his budget." But Mr. Carney refused to say the Senate should act by even proposing a budget, let alone, you know, actually passing one.

GOP Must Convince Young People It's the Party of Options
:
The reason three of the four Republicans haven't paid much attention to young voters is that the under-30 folks have been turning out in the Republican contests in miniscule numbers. According to entrance and exit polls, voters under 30 accounted for 15 percent of participants in Iowa, 12 percent in New Hampshire, 9 percent in South Carolina, 6 percent in Florida and 8 percent in Nevada. [Is the reason for lousy youth turnout in primaries because the party bosses and RINOs don’t encourage primary turnout so they can pick our candidates?  Just sayin’. Sometimes the Obamaists are brilliant on reaching the youth: Obama Campaign Releases Official Spotify Playlist – JS]

Military Maintenance Critical to a Ready Force :

In a recent report titled “A Historical Perspective on ‘Hollow Forces,’” the Congressional Research Service (CRS) surveyed past efforts to keep the military from going “hollow.” The CRS is spot on in bringing attention to the issue. We need to look for the warning signs that budget cuts are leaving us with a military that is not up to the job of defending us. But rather than getting bogged down over academic definitions of hollowness, we need to focus on objective measures that America’s armed forces are becoming less capable.

Professional Warmists Shocked No Ice Melt In Himalayas, Still Say We’re Doomed: We’ve already had confirmation on massive errors in the UN IPCC’s “science”, and know that the errors were used intentionally to scaremonger. We know that the data came from an unfounded report which had no scientific data, written by a grad student who did no field research, like so much of the 2007 IPCC assessment. And now we find(UK Guardian) The world’s greatest snow-capped peaks, which run in a chain from the Himalayas to Tian Shan on the border of China and Kyrgyzstan, have lost no ice over the last decade, new research shows.

No Child Left Behind waivers let Team Obama seize control of your child's education : The Obama administration is not simply providing "waivers" to 10 states to provide relief from the onerous provisions of No Child Left Behind. Make no mistake, these are conditions-based waivers, and the strings attached to this “relief” further tether states to Washington and the Department of Education.

Obama’s Sneaky Treaties:  President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are entering negotiations over -- or seeking ratification of -- five treaties that could radically limit our national sovereignty and the reach of our democratic institutions. Particularly scary is that the treaties, once signed and ratified, have the same status as constitutional law and cannot be altered or eclipsed by Congress or state legislatures. And their provisions must be enforced by U.S. courts.

INCREDIBLE! Ohio: Obama Leads Romney, Tied with Santorum[What, oh what are our RINO bosses going to do? – JS]

Obamateurism of the Day: Put aside the questions over religious exemptions for a moment, and marvel at the oddity of this proposition.  When Obama insists that contraception will be no-cost, he means no out of pocket expense for the person who plans to use it.  Everyone else in the insurance pool has to pay for it, of course, in what is the antithesis of risk-pool management.  Contraception gets used to cover high-risk personal behavior, the kind of activity for which insurers usually demand more financial contribution from risk-takers, not less.  Why should people not engaging in sexual behavior to avoid accidental procreation entirely subsidize those who do want to engage in sexual behavior without wanting a natural outcome of intercourse?  Insurers demand co-pays for all other prescriptions and procedures involving non-elective conditions, so why should voluntary sexual activity indemnify those involve from contributing to their own risk? [This is to the point and rarely discussed. Why should I pay for your mistakes?. If I get arrested, or fat, or out-of-shape, should you help pay my co-pay? Nah… – JS]

The President, the Pill and Religious Liberty in Peril: In 1808, President Thomas Jefferson stated the matter bluntly: “I consider the government of the United States as interdicted by the Constitution from intermeddling with religious institutions, their doctrines, discipline, or exercises.” Fast forward 204 years and President Barack Obama has reversed that logic, ordering religious institutions to provide insurance coverage for employees that must include contraceptives, including those that may induce an abortion.

Gay by Choice? For years we have been told that homosexuality is something people are born with — like the color of one’s skin — and that it can’t be changed. Gay-rights activists insist this is so, because, they say, if people don’t choose to be gay, it would be wrong to discriminate against them in things like marriage, adoption, and legal benefits. And heaven help those who disagree. Just ask actress Cynthia Nixon, who in a recentNew York Times Magazine article had the gall to admit that she chose to be gay.

Norman Matoon Thomas, a leading American socialist, explained that “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
