Investor-Class Dead Heat:
While President Obama is out on the campaign trail talking about how bad things were four years ago, and how we have to go “forward” to his second term to see just how great things are going to be in the next four years, the biggest problem he’s got is the here and now.
Real GDP in the second quarter stalled at 2.2 percent. There were a paltry 115,000 new jobs in April. The labor force shrank by 342,000 for the month, and the 63.6 percent labor-force participation rate is now the lowest since 1981. There are roughly 23 million people classified as either unemployed, underemployed, or no-longer-looking. And median household income has dropped by $4,300 during Obama’s time in office. This all adds up to a tough indictment of the administration’s economic policies.
FallenIraqSoildersAmerica’s Political Leaders Cannot Repeat History Again: … Today, the writing is on the wall, but it is unclear who is reading it. America cannot take another holiday from sustaining its military. The U.S. continues to have the greatest military in the world, but drastic cuts to defense are jeopardizing that title. The Administration and Congress need to learn from the past and uphold their constitutional responsibility to provide for the common defense. [Yes – Provide for the common defense but don’t go to war except to win it. Nation-building is a fool’s errand. – JS]
From Meritocracy to Mediocrity in One Presidential Term:

The administration has issued a record number of regulations and several of the largest legislative “reform” packages in the history of the country- and they don’t even want to talk about any of it.
Because they understand as well as the rest of us that the reform policies they have championed are doing exactly what they are supposed to do: namely, take the greatest economy in the history of the world- one based on a meritocracy- and turn it into a European-style mediocrity.
And for Obama, if the price of doing so is dividing American against each other, those are just the wages of making history.
