Tea Party Matters! 3/2/12

Durbin Amendment Damage Grows: Remember when last September Senator Dick Durbin (D–IL) claimed that his contribution to the Dodd–Frank financial regulation statue—“the Durbin Amendment”—would benefit consumers? Well, more evidence has surfaced that his price-control regulation is costing consumers more and more money. [Yup. You make the bank give back money, they’re capitalistically (horrors) going to get it somewhere else – new checking account fees! – JS]

Obama's Campaign Bully Brigade Rides Again: They're baaaaaaack. Barack Obama's election-year goon squad kicked into high gear this week by kicking the president's fiercest opponents in the teeth and targeting their pocketbooks… It is no small exaggeration to conclude that Team Obama's dead aim is to chill conservative speech and criminalize conservative dissent. All Americans for prosperity must push back with one voice: No, you can't.

Illegal Immigrants Get Hormone Treatments and Abortions at Taxpayer Expense: I don’t have health insurance and I can’t afford to purchase my own.  Obamacare has only made it more expensive to get insurance.  Yet, people who are breaking federal law by entering our country illegally, not only get free standard medical care, they now receive extra care that is quite costly.  Seems the American dream is not for Americans, but for illegals.

Obama Makes Fifth Attempt to Reduce Charitable Tax Deduction: Once again, President Barack Obama has proposed lowering the income tax deduction for charitable giving. In his proposed budget for fiscal year 2013, the President calls for reducing the charitable deduction rate from 35 percent to 28 percent for those in the top tax bracket (individuals making $200,000 or more or families making $250,000 or more). By decreasing the value of itemized tax deductions for higher-income taxpayers, Obama’s proposal would weaken the incentive for the wealthy to give to organizations that help the poor.

Tales of the Red Tape #27: Don’t Dress Grandma! [Nannyism and statism run amok! You’ve got to read this. It’s almost funny! – JS]

HARD TO FIND AN OPPONENT OF MANDATORY E-VERIFY: The Pulse Opinion Research poll sponsored by NumbersUSA found that only 12% of all likely voters nationwide oppose requiring every employer to use electronic verification to keep illegal aliens from getting U.S. jobs – and to ensure that all U.S. jobs go to Americans and legal immigrants who already are here. Read a lot more …
