Tea Party Matters for 2/20/12

INCREDIBLE! Obama’s Phony Theology Offers Phony Financing on Everything: Add in the subsidies, bailouts and government equity given to automakers and you’re looking at payments of over $3000 per month to some government-involved entity for your mortgage ($1500), your healthcare ($1100), your car ($300), and your student loan ($250). That comes out to 80 cents on every dollar of the average American pretax earnings. With government now costing about 40 cents on every dollar you earn, you add it all together and for the average American you’re in the hole every month to the federal government. You’re accumulating bad debt of 20 cents for every dollar you make.

A progressive is someone who will give you the shirt off of somebody else’s back.

This ObamaCare Contraception Mandate is Just the Beginning:
“Think the contraception decision was bad?” asks the Wall Street Journal. Well, just wait. It will get much worse.
Offended by President Obama’s decision to force health insurers to pay for contraception and surgical sterilization? It gets worse: In the future, thanks to ObamaCare, the government will issue such health edicts on a routine basis—and largely insulated from public view. This goes beyond contraception to cancer screenings, the use of common drugs like aspirin, and much more.
Under ObamaCare, a single committee—the United States Preventative Services Task Force—is empowered to evaluate preventive health services and decide which will be covered by health-insurance plans.
The task force already rates services with letter grades of “A” through “D” (or “I,” if it has “insufficient evidence” to make a rating). But under ObamaCare, services rated “A” or “B”—such as colon cancer screening for adults aged 50-75—must be covered by health plans in full, without any co-pays. Many services that get “Cs” and “Ds”—such as screening for ovarian or testicular cancer—could get nixed from coverage entirely. . . .

“Peter, I’ll tell you what I need you to do. . . .” He sends the fisherman fishing. He gives him time to sort things out. He shows him there are higher laws to live by. Jesus has a sense of humor. Without a deep confidence in that, the story is simply bizarre. But with that understanding, it is a beautiful and very human and also immensely funny story. The fruit of which is only to make us love him more.

The Ridiculousness of Relativism: All Cultures Are Not Equal:
Last year, an Afghan woman named Gulnaz was the victim of rape. In a case of what you might call “adding injury to injury,” it was Gulnaz who wound up in prison. Now, according to reports, she faces yet another assault to her dignity: She can stay in prison or marry her attacker.
As Gulnaz’s case shows, the elites don’t really believe that “there are no moral values or standards which can be applied to all cultures.” What they are really doing is denying what makes the values they believe in possible: the West’s Christian heritage.
Because it is the Christian belief that man bears the image of God that makes the very belief in “fundamental and universal” human rights possible. It’s why we just can’t turn our back on what was done to Gulnaz as just another equally valid expression of culture.
As Pera, the former head of the Italian Senate, knows, this contradiction is one thing that Westerners just don’t want to admit. Fortunately for Gulnaz, these relativists contradicted themselves in such a way that they prove their worldview to be false.

Obama Gestapo Arrests Group for Praying in Front of White House: First we have prayer banned from the public schools and many other governmental arenas.  Now we have people being arrested for openly praying on public property in front of one of the most revered bastions of America’s freedom.  Only those freedoms have been revoked and people are no longer allowed to follow the examples of our Founding Fathers.  And if those Founding Fathers like George Washington saw America today, not only would they be on their knees praying, but I’m sure they would also be shedding tears over what they see.

The War on Women’s Freedom: Religious liberty has been called our first freedom—and that goes for women, too. If it begins to erode, the whole framework of liberty is in danger. That’s why Obamacare’s unholy trinity of attacks on freedom—the free exercise of religion, free enterprise, and individual freedom, as Charles Krauthammer pointed out this week—is a war on freedom that should concern all Americans, and particularly women.
