Tea Party Matters – 2/23/12

Competing Worldviews: Why They Matter: There is a struggle underway in American culture and it is ultimately a battle between two competing worldviews or explanations of reality. These two perspectives are the secular humanist explanation versus the biblical explanation of reality. The former is man-centered while the latter is God-centered.

Save the Planet: Lie, Cheat and Steal!: A prominent global warming scientist, Peter Gleick, who was chairman of the ethics committee at the American Geophysical Union, admitted that he recently stole some documents- and he may have forged others- from the conservative think-tank the Heartland Institute. But that’s all in a day’s work for a work-a-day climate warrior. The important thing isn’t the quest for the truth in global climate research, but, as Charlie Sheen would say, winning. With winning comes cash.

Is Pelosi really this stupid?--or Arrogant?: Earlier this week, Representative (and former Speaker) Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ventured out of her protective radical leftist cocoon and went on to The Daily Show to chat with Jon Stewart. She probably thought it would be safe, but she forgot that every now and then Stewart suddenly has these urges to show he’s not 100% in the tank for the left. This time, he asked Pelosi a very simple question that she should have expected: why did the House, in her last two years of control, not even try to pass a federal budget? Pelosi’s answer was so stunningly stupid and wrong, it needs to be scrutinized in depth. “Because the Republicans would have filibustered.”

YES! Florida Family Association declares victory in effort to influence Tampa school district to stop inviting CAIR officials to address students. Supporters' emails made the difference.

'Stupid' and Oil Prices > Obama's Forrest Gump analysis of rising gas prices: We'd almost feel sorry for Mr. Obama's gas-price predicament if it weren't a case of rough justice. The President has deliberately sought to raise the price of energy throughout the economy via his cap-and-trade agenda. He is now getting his wish, albeit a little too overtly for political comfort. Mr. Obama has also spent three years blaming George W. Bush for every economic ill. If Mr. Obama now feels frustrated by economic events beyond his control, perhaps he should call Mr. Bush for consolation.

Gasoline Prices Are Not Rising, the Dollar Is Falling: Unfortunately, the talking heads that are trying to explain the reasons for high oil prices are missing one tiny detail. Oil prices aren’t high right now. In fact, they are unusually low. Gasoline prices would have to rise by another $0.65 to $0.75 per gallon from where they are now just to be “normal”. And, because gasoline prices are low right now, it is very likely that they are going to go up more—perhaps a lot more. What the politicians, analysts, and pundits are missing is that prices are ratios.

'Anti-Sharia Law' Bill Passes House Panel; Muslims, ACLU Object: Waving aside objections from the Florida Bar and the ACLU, the House Judiciary Committee approved an "anti-Sharia law" bill on Wednesday.

"It is the growing custom to narrow control, concentrate power, disregard and disfranchise the public; and assuming that certain powers by divine right of money-raising or by sheer assumption, have the power to do as they think best without consulting the wisdom of mankind." -- W. E. B. Du Bois

A Rare Victory! Federal Judge Rules Pharmacists Can’t Be Forced to Dispense Contraceptives That Violate Beliefs: Joseph Backholm, who heads the Family Policy Institute of Washington, says it is sad that it took so long to finally end with this result. “But it is a very American idea that the government will not tell small-business owners what they have to sell in their stores,” he tells OneNewsNow
