While E-Verify unfortunately has not moved or been enacted, at least two bills providing costly benefits to illegal aliens died today in the Florida Legislature.

1) SB1294 is a bill by Senator Garcia that orginally provided Kidcare health insurance for illegal alien children.  The bill was amended on February 16, 2012 to eliminate coverage of illegal alien children.   The amended bill passed but the fate of the bill is difficult to speculate as there is no House companion bill.

2) The college tuition subsidy for illegal aliens bill SB106, AKA Florida DREAM Act, died on February 16, 2012 in the Senate Judiciary Committee with votes as follows:

Braynon - Yea
Gardiner - Nay
Richter - Nay
Simmons - Nay
Thrasher - Nay
Joyner, VICE CHAIR - Yea
Flores, CHAIR - Yea
