Tea Party Matters! 4/4/12

BUDGET RULING PROVOKES DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAOS: Newly appointed Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, whom Reid recommended for the job, has decided that last summer’s deal on the debt ceiling and spending caps does not preclude the Senate from taking up other budget resolutions this year. The ruling could force vulnerable Democrats to cast tough votes that hurt them in November, a situation Reid and other leaders are eager to avoid as they work to protect their fragile majority…

UN Controlled Internet 2China and Russia Urge United Nations to Pass Resolution to Govern Internet : This past September, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan announced their plans to sponsor a United Nations resolution on controlling the Internet.  Other nations including North Korea and Iran have joined in the call to have the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), an agency of the UN, work with governments to give them the power to censor online information. These radical countries have been trying to get the UN to adopt authority over the Internet, but so far, they have not been successful.  They’ve asked for control through international law and via a UN ‘super agency’. The Vetting - Obama's War on Catholic Church Began at His First Job : One of the least explored periods of Barack Obama’s life is the period between his graduation from Columbia University in 1983 and his arrival at Harvard Law School in 1988. This was a crucial, formative time for the young Obama. It was during these years that Barack Obama, “community organizer,” forged his identity and the relationships that would bring him to the White House. And he did so hand-in-hand with the radical Catholic left in Chicago. [Again and again, I bemoan how all this got by us – JS]

Labor Secretary Praises 'Role Model' Socialist : President Obama’s Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, recently spoke at the naming of the Cesar Chavez Auditorium naming in Washington, D.C. There she praised in glowing terms Dolores Huerta, a socialist co-founder of the United Farm Workers, whom she called “my teacher, my role model, and mi hermana,” a “living legend.” Huerta is also honorary co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America, and has praised Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez in glowing terms in front of high school students.

Is Calling 911 Enough? Unfortunately, it is indicative of so much thinking today. Particularly on the progressive left. If they see their neighbor in dire financial straights, passing the buck to the government to fix the problem with someone else’s money is the first choice in many cases. So many think the government can solve all the world’s problems. They forget the wisdom of Ronald Reagan who understood that “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” [Read this. It is provocative and a bit shaming! – JS]
